HDU and B@1 Records present a Bat Country Labor Day Blast at the Palms Featuring: The Rikk Agnew Band/ Silke Berlinn/ Rawbone / The Swords of Fatima / 30 FOOT DEMON All Ages • Bar with ID $10 at the door • Free Overnight Camping Bands start at 6:00 pm! Sponsored by Coachella Valley Independent and Palms Restaurant Legendary east and west coast punk icons guarantee an energetic event for the Labor Day holiday weekend at The Palms in Wonder Valley with HDU Productions’ presentation of Bat Country Labor Day Bash on Sunday, August 31, 2014, a multi-act music show headlined by The Rikk Agnew Band and featuring a special appearance by Silke Berlinn. A pioneer of Orange County punk sound, Rikk Agnew has lent his shredding guitar skills and songwriting talent to such groundbreaking acts as D.I., The Adolescents, Wrong Beach, Social Distortion, and Christian Death. His live appearances inspired OC Weekly’s Nate Jackson to declare: “The demon inside Rikk Agnew is the kind punks pay to see.” The Rikk Agnew Band includes seasoned musicians Sam Hare, Greg Watson, Dewayne B. Lyin, and Justin Parnell; the band’s most recent releases can be downloaded at therikkagnewband.com, and their appearance at The Palms is the culmination of their tour this season. Rikk is currently working on a track cover of the Adam and The Ants song "Deutscher Girls" in conjunction with other project artists (Jack Grisham of T.S.O.L. and Don Bolles of The Germs) labeling themselves The Gestapo. The lead female vocalist of The Gestapo is Silke Berlinn, also scheduled to appear at Bat Country Labor Day Bash. With an underground history as raw and blues-edged as her vocal style, Silke has laid out the experiences of her life – from New York to the Bay Area to Los Angeles and beyond - in song lyric, poetry, and autobiographical formats. Her memoir is entitled “Queen Of The Underground”, an excerpt of which can be read at her official website, silkeberlinn.com. Silke’s new EP-on-vinyl, produced by Paul Roessler, is slated for release in August to coincide with her appearance at The Palms; upcoming in Silke’s future events calendar is her participation in The Kitten Robot Experiment, another project produced by Roessler. Rounding out the line-up at Bat Country Labor Day Bash will be Rawbone, a new inland desert act describing its style as “heavy dirty and stripped down”, The Swords of Fatima, and 30 Foot Demon •VENUE INFO• The Palms Restaurant is located in a remote area about 10 miles east of Twenty Nine Palms on Amboy Road. “Probably the band that played the most at Al's Bar was Popdefect. Popdefect is no more so representing will be drummer Nick Scott's Swords of Fatima. Nick teams up with Buko Pan Guerra who sings and plays guitar. What makes the music really interesting is that Buko plays an electric guitar tuned like a banjo who plays really interesting rhythms. The only two melodic instruments are guitar and voice and they both come out of the same person in the same rhythms connected through the heart.”
