Bio
The Moaners are Laura King, and Melissa Swingle. They are from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and play original rock -n- roll. Sometimes loud, and sometimes sweet with intriguing vocal harmonies, walloping drums, and crazy slide guitar. Their 3rd full length album, "Nocturnal", will be released in the Fall and will have guest piano player Earl Poole Ball on several tracks. Earl is Melissa's cousin and a honky-tonk piano legend. He toured with Johnny Cash, among others and lives in Austin TX.

“Been hearing a lot of Gothic, Old South-sounding stuff lately, so much so that I’ve been tempted to reread As I Lay Dying. That seeming like too much effort, I’ve opted to polish off a few fingers of Maker’s Mark, neat, on oppressively humid evenings before retiring. My heart is in the right place, but my liver inevitably pays the price. North Carolina’s The Moaners feel me. Melissa Swingle (formerly of Trailer Bride) and Laura King (formerly of Grand National) are back with Nocturnal, a new record of Faulknerian ruminations which finds the duo dipping their toes into a bushel of genres, running the gamut from front porch folk to garage stomp. Big bonus points for the presence of Earl Poole Ball (Johnny Cash), the man who’s work on the ivories helped a bunch of hippies plant the seeds of Americana via a legitimate country-rock masterpiece known as Sweetheart Of The Rodeo.”
