We are first year Social Work students studying at Plymouth University. As part of our placement we are holding a Community Benefit Concert in order to raise funds and awareness for The Oasis Project Plymouth. The Oasis Project Plymouth is situated in the Crown Centre, Stonehouse. It is based within a community cafe and aims to combat social exclusion and isolation by providing people with access to services and better opportunities. The Project provides people with free internet use, ICT lessons, literacy and numeracy classes, job club, mother and toddler groups, cookery classes and a comfortable place to socialise and meet new people. The Oasis Project also hosts the Plymouth Foodbank - a service for people experiencing crisis. The Foodbank aims to help people by providing food parcels and emotional support. This service is closely linked to other agencies within the area, so people can be signposted to other relevant services which may help them further. The Oasis Project offers such a valuable service to so many people in the community, yet does not receive any support from the Government due to cuts and restrictions. The Project is therefore mainly run by volunteers and relies heavily on donations from the public. We are therefore hosting the event in order to raise further awareness and funds for The Oasis Project Plymouth. The event will include dance acts, drama performances, solo singers and bands. Tickets are just £6 - this includes drinks on arrival and a buffet during the interval. DATE: WEDS 25TH APRIL 2012 VENUE: ROOM 018, ROLLE BUILDING, PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY TIME: 7PM - 10PM TICKET PRICE: £6 Tickets are available from Emma, Sarah and Claire, or from Maria at The Oasis Project. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE :) x
The Lukins are coming to rock the Capital with their first ever London gig! We need as much support as we can get to come & see us, so come along and bring as many friends/family/significant others/unsignifcant others/work colleagues with you as you can – hell, even bring strangers off the street! We’re due on stage for 8pm, and we'll be playing a high energy half hour set. There are FIVE bands in total, and it’s on St Patrick’s day, so it should be a barnstorming night! Ticket Info: Tickets are £8 each on the door. HOWEVER, if you message us on here to confirm that you’re coming (by the day before the gig preferably) and you arrive at the door prior to 7:30pm, then we can put your name on a list so that it will only cost you £6 entry!!!!!!!
