" The Log Ladies explore a wide variety of musical terrain on their debut album, Let’s Build a Myth Together, and succeed in producing one of the most unique albums to come out of New Orleans in recent memory. In the spirit of David Lynch (who’s TV series Twin Peaks is referenced by the band’s name), the Log Ladies achieve an ethereal state with their music which is often foiled by moments of chaos, poignancy and humor. The album bounces back and forth between scripted compositions and free-time sonic exploration." " But when the band stretches outside of these forms it blurs the line between composition and improvisation, pushing musical boundaries while remaining natural, tasteful and, above all, a joy to listen to." "The inclusion of Cappello’s poetry on two tracks adds another positive dimension to Let’s Build a Myth Together." "The Log Ladies cover a lot of ground on the hour-long Let’s Build a Myth Together, a lot to digest but well worth the effort."
“Okay, this one’s a bit different. The descriptor Frisell-ian is becoming more commonplace as guitarists display Bill Frisell’s influence upon them. This album would fall under that category. A guitar trio (w/ guest sax) that has the crunch and swerve of earlier Frisell albums, and that reverb & loop ambiance that is equal parts spooky and comforting. ”
“What do you get when you take three unique stylized musicians and put them together in one group? the answer is simple: you get an unusual trio by the name of the Log Ladies. the Log Ladies consists of Chris alford (guitar), Jesse Morrow (bass), and Dave Cappello (drums). this is not your ordinary conventional Jazz band. together they create experimental musical magic in the form of jazz with a contemporary and euphoric melodic sound. Beautifully put together, this group has released their debut album, Let’s Build a Myth Together. on the album you can find standout tracks like “squirmer” and “49 Blues,” but don’t limit yourself to those tracks alone, this entire album is definitely worth listening to. With its funky, and at times haunting melodies, this crossover self proclaimed “skronk jazz” album is as pleasing to the ears as it is relaxing to the body. You will definitely be pleased when you pick up your copy of Let’s Build a Myth Together.—Kimmie Tubré”
“.."I was impressed by the writing and by the sharply defined group sound. The band has an identity and they know it. Cappello was like a Big Easy Han Bennink, crashing through an off-kilter backbeat that managed to groove and confound at the same time. Alford is a compelling soloist who uses his effects pedals well. And Morrow really held down the low end while still finding places for some excellent arco work in line with Alford’s guitar. The Ladies were joined for three tunes by trombonist Jeff Albert, who’ll be touring Texas with them later this month. I loved the guitar-trombone combination. Adding Jeff really brought an organic, visceral sound to the mix, giving the band even more punch and guts." ”
