About
THE LIVE ROOM
The Live Room was formed by Moroney in 2004, who had just arrived from his homeland of Ireland with nothing more than a guitar and a hat full of melodies. Moroney soon found like minded individuals to share in his goal of creating a record which culminated in the release of 7” Inch vinyl Movie Club, an album which incorporates a sound of acoustic driven heartfelt songs wrapped in lush strings.
Moroney was then joined in Australia by Declan Kelly(bass), a child hood friend and first band mate from teenage days. At this point, two new members, Luke Bertoz (guitar) and Alan Kompalinen (drums) entered the Room; and so commenced a new phase in the development of The Live Room, which was marked by the signing of a publishing deal with Rough Cut Publishing.
The Band set out on tour, firstly a 15 date tour within 23 days in Ireland at the end of 2005. Followed up supporting both the Hot House Flowers and The Whitlams on their national Australian tours in 2006, the band also landed a spot on the East Coast Rhythm & Blues Festival in 2006 and 2007. To round off the 2007, Moroney road tested new material while he opened for fellow Irish songster Damien Leith on his Australian tour.
In February ‘08 the band started their self funded recording process with Anton Hagop (Powderfinger & SilverChair) and Wayne Connolly (YOU AM I, Josh Pyke) additional recording was carried out at the band’s home studio with Luke (guitar player) at the controls.
The Live Room will be releasing their first single “Village High” in August 2008 along followed by a national promotional tour, with Declan Kelly, in September 2008.The album “Village High” will be released March 2009.
The Live Room have the sound and drive that will enable them to actively pursue a successful career that will open them to new opportunities in Australia as well as Europe and the U.S.
