Bio
Experimental Rock with Blues roots... Real musicians playing real instruments and we can blues, rock, jam and improvise. We are NOT a radio process trend of today and gone tomorrow. It's music with attitude, groove and plenty of soul. Every note you'll hear is squeezed and meant and if it touches you like it touches us then we are blessed to have crossed paths with you.
About
-THE ALBUM–
The highly anticipated “La Danza Macabra” from The Killing Floor is their first and full-length album officially released world wide on July 1, 2008. Ten tracks were produced by The Killing Floor and recorded at The Rhythm Room Studios in San Antonio, Texas with Juan Carlos as producer and Peter Carey as co-producer/engineer. The cd was then mastered by “The Wizard” Jerry Tubbs at Terra Nova Studios in Austin, Texas.
-THE BAND-
- The Killing Floor can be one of those difficult-to-categorize and innovative jam bands working today. The music is breathtaking, ranging from Blues, Rock, Improv-Jam, Latin and transcendental of other sounds and genres in between.
The band was founded by ~Juan Carlos, initially as The JCM Band. The first release was an EP ‘Labor Of Love...’ in 2003, an album with long improv-sections and mostly instrumental with very little vocals, which bears little rendition to the band's current state of mind and sound. And now, ~Juan Carlos has expanded The Killing Floor's sound and creating more experimental, rock/ambient trance with Texas Blues Rock always been their roots.
The Killing Floor will always continues to evolve and confront their expectations to their sound from album to album. In mid 2008, "La Danza Macabra" album became the band first major world wide release and under its own label Carne Evil Records. Thus moving The Killing Floor into a more song-orientated direction. Well for now...
Performing and paying their dues in bar/clubs to large festivals since 2003 locally and regional through out Texas. Hard work and perseverance will always be for the gospel sake of their music against the grain of cliché and trend.
Different incarnation of band members through the years has proven one thing... Their sound has always remained distinctive, signature and honest. Meaningful lyrics and melodic vocals, undulating emotionally driven guitars, poignant groove bass lines, and insistent high-energy drums and percussion is one of many phases that has found its way to their sound.
The Killing Floor’s philosophy and rules are simple… Reinvent yourself, keep it spontaneous, never settle and always love what you do. The Killing Floor is an experience of a labor of love creation and vision of four people will stay and produce music for many years to come.
