Saturday 15th January KLAUS KINSKI + THE HYADS £6 7PM-3AM "I'm pretty much a sucker for any Welsh groups that display significant Birthday Party damage , so Klaus Kinski are pretty hard to resist. They're much more scrabbled and trebly than their models, but that's just the tenor of the times,eh?Primal raunch vom. - Byron Coley" (The Wire ) "They make the most unhinged and primal racket that I have ever heard. It's mercurial and surreal: the Birthday Party fronted by a psychotic Spike Milligan. If you like your music unstable, bust into a thousand unexpected shapes and ultimately thrilling, this band are for you." - Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) Klaus Kinski formed a few years back in the graveyard of a freshly burnt church in Llanfairfechan ( that's on the N.Wales coast ! - known affectionately by the locals as Transylfechan) by old friends Jake McKenna and Edwin Stevens. Originally formed to channel their love of Bauhaus, Satanism and Herzog films into a musical project the band has now become a five piece guilt ridden no-wave post-punk flamingo with massive delusions of grandeur , incorporating pin-up singer James, and the duelling guitar axes of Dom and Dyl. All five members have relocated from the Welsh coast to city centre Manchester. September 2008 saw Klaus Kinski perform their first gig playing actual songs (not just noise) at Clwb Ifor Bach,Cardiff on the BBC introducing stage for sexy radio DJ Adam Walton as part of the SWN festival - and they were ace ! In no time at all they were signed to ANKST MUSIK records and by the summer of 2009 they had recorded and released their debut single HAPPINESS, HAPPINESS / CAESAR on 7" vinyl and had started playing regular live concerts. Their debut album SKELLINGTON HORSE is now complete, and was released in November. Recorded under the guidance of producer David Wrench at Bryn Derwen Studios, Bethesda in an intense three day session the tracks were recorded as live performances with all the trademark energy and mania of the Klaus Kinski performance style being captured directly onto tape. www.myspace.com/klausruddykinski The Hyads are a distillation of pure rock n roll with post punk influences fuelled by energetic song writing styles , they have reached the point where their set is overloaded with modern classics in the waiting! From sharp two minute explosions to crowd pleasing epics, there is something for everyone. The Hyads in the last twelve months have toured relentlessly throughout the UK and with an already established loyal local following and they are beginning to create a buzz around themselves nationally by working non stop to leave a trail up and down the land. So far to date they have played on stages with The subways, Mani from primal scream, Alabama 3, The View, Maximo Park, Tom Hingley (inspiral carpets), The Stranglers, Dreadzone, Pete Donnigan, one night only and Blackbud all from word of mouth or demo's passed on. The Hyads have also won acclaim from local and national media this is all aiding to the buzz as well as their songs being used in soundtracks to accompany film projects the most recent being "A Walk In The Park" made by the same company who produce Channel Four's "Dispatches". www.myspace.com/thehyads
