With a background playing various instruments in everything from a jazz ensemble to rock bands, Phil Rohrer settled into indie rock and founded The Historic in 2008. “The thing that really appealed to me about the style was its emphasis on lyrics and storytelling,” says Phil.

And as the band came together, another driving force behind the music became apparent. The Historic bides their time not just crafting thoughtful songs and lyrics (influenced by everyone from Dylan to Wilco) but also partaking in frequent philosophical conversations about life, community and religion. It is the band's goal to make a difference in people's lives, inspiring discussions about the things in life that are worth discussing.
