"...On 2007’s Lo-Fi Sounds for a Hi-Fi Heart, Evans sounded broken and forlorn, a man trying to pick up the pieces of a shattered relationship. Interestingly, about eight months after the release of that album, Evans got married, and his music today has a much more life-affirming lilt to it. That’s not to suggest Fireflies is the feel-good album of the year: “All the androids cry / All the birds just stare / Their rusty hearts collide with angry bears,” he sings on opening track “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” But on “Firefly,” he sings, “The fireflies were right / There’s a bigger fight / Put your hands in mine and start believing.” On “We’re Not Alone,” Evans’ music recalls the arty, ambient strains of Spiritualized and Radiohead. Another highlight is “Lovers and Dreamers,” a moody, psychedelic country waltz: “We don’t need anything but lovers and dreamers,” he sings, and it seems he’s found both."

“3 out of 5 Todd Evans, formerly of Atticus Fault, released his first record as The Golden Sounds in 2004 and is already counting to 5 releases up to 2012. Including the new album "The fireflies were right", which is the first album since "Lo-fi sounds for a Hi-fi heart" in 2007. The music from The Golden Sounds hasn´t got much in common with Atticus Fault, except for the track "Half ass dreams" on this new album that is more upbeat and has the same atmosphere as Todd Evans former band. Otherwise, the songs are quite slow and can be described as spacey indie rock. It takes a few spins to get into the album but the songs truly grow, I have started to like "Are we gonna shine" and "Lovers and dreamers" very much. Real beautiful. His voice sounds almost fragile, it´s a cool record anyhow. ”

“THE GOLDEN SOUNDS “Introspective” doesn’t begin to describe the deeply personal nature of Lo-Fi Sounds for a Hi-Fi Heart, the latest release from The Golden Sounds. The creation of frontman Todd Evans, Lo-Fi must be the byproduct of a painful breakup—there’s no ambiguity in lines such as “Am I the one that’s fucking up / You said my action’s not enough.” But despite the frequently bitter or crestfallen lyrics, the music is more dreamy than sad. A few tracks feature phone messages to the dejected protagonist from concerned friends—a hopeful, if eerie, shout-out to the power of moral support. This show will be a sing-along, complete with printed choruses for the crowd and maybe even a few tambourines—think of it as group therapy.”

The Golden Sounds will perform 2 short sets throughout the evening. For one night only all will be illuminated as BB King’s is transformed into a glowing pop-up gallery lit only by self-lit or black-lit art and a variety of equally–and literally–brilliant live entertainment. Lighting up this year's marquee are DJ Sooper Grover, performers Grupo Balança Capoeira (Brazillian Martial Arts/Dance group), the band The Golden Sounds and Glowing Spinning Poi. Body painting stylings of Michelle Body Painter round out the lineup with distinctive sparkle and flash. The evening will be hosted by the radiant Shannon Million, Nashville Correspondent for PinUp America Magazine.

Art House exists to foster a community of creativity. Our goal is to bring together local artists, musicians and writers, to encourage and inspire one another to continue to create. We gather to build community, not career, creativity, not competition. We want to create a place where artists (of all kinds and at various levels) can continue to grow in their art, and as human beings. We believe that every individual has a unique creative spark that is a smaller piece of a much larger picture. By coming together, we are able to discover that larger picture - a more beautiful humanity. Description Art House is a bi-monthly gathering of local artists and musicians. The second Saturday every other month we meet in a different location (usually a house), to share our creativity with one another. These shows include three primary elements. Music: We invite a variety of musical guests, ranging anywhere from solo acts, to full bands. Visual Art: We invite two visual artists to show their work. The visual art ranges from print, illustrations, photo, video, sculpting, carving...you name it. Literary Art: Every show is accompanied by a Literary Companion, which includes short literary works such as (but not limited to), short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. General Information Art House is ALWAYS looking for Visual Artists, Musicians and Writers to be involved in the Art House Community. If you would like us to consider your art for one of our upcoming shows, please shoot us an email, including a sample of what you do.
