ABOUT Time to Bend, Again Portland’s most freaked-out rock n’ roll weekender returns. That’s right, the Bender is back. Back like plaque! Mark your iCals for April 12, 13 and 14th and be sure to give your cab the right address: This year The Bender madbomb is blowing up the fabulous Star Theater in Portland, OR. We had a lot of good sick years in Slabtown. But… Hey! If ain’t broke, bend it. Moving on, little donkey. Moving on. As always, The Bender is a fluid situation. You’ll need to check back here frequently for required hype fixes and late-breaking Bender news. Here are your Bender bands, so far: Cheater Slicks, Black Bananas, The Cynics, Monoshock, White Mystery, M.O.T.O, Head, The Mallard, Warm Soda, James Arthur’s Manhunt, King Louie & and the Missing Monuments, Rhett & Dean, Glitz, Big Eyes, Life Stinks, MUSK, The Fireballs of Freedom, Sex Crime, Pity Fucks, Youthbitch, The Pynnacles, The Bloodtypes, Therapists, Wimps, The Suicide Notes, The Unnatural Helpers, Bad Tats, Big Eyes, Guantanamo Baywatch, Piss Test, Patah Hiss, Moyster, Thee Headliners, Paradise, Flash Flood & The Dikes. More TBA along with proper schedules, ticket info, etc. Got a couple of new things. This year we’re working closely with a great artist from Austin, TX, a guy who happens to be kind of big deal if you’re into legendary punk rock and killer soul music—Tim Kerr. AND we’re replacing the regular Sunday matinee with a Wristband Party. This is going to be a special show for everyone who buys a festival wristband. Hint: Buy a wristband (they’re cheap). The party is going to be totally feted-out with free food and drink AND a whole assortment of amazingly killer special performances that Bender fans are just not going to want to miss. We can tell you that Cheater Slicks will jam live with some of this city’s finest noise-makers; Tim Kerr will lead a horn-heavy soul jazz session; and King Louie is busting out his banjo. This is where the serious bending will take place. And you did read that previous correctly, we’re talking MORE CHEATER SLICKS. Git bent. Sam Soule & Brinda Coleman P.S. Madbombs were first enountered in 1970’s-era Captain America comic books written by Jack Kirby; later by Ed Brubaker.
