The Duke of Uke and His Novelty Orchestra is an orchestral funk-pop ensemble, based in Champaign, IL, featuring 4-part vocal harmonies, ukulele, violin, sousaphone, saxophones, bass, drums and Latin percussion. They are original and unique, but with a familiar sound that draws on influences from rock, soul, Motown, funk, pop, and classical. Artists they've been compared to include: Tom Waits, Amy Winehouse, The B-52s and Squirrel Nut Zippers. They've been featured on stages throughout the country, such as, Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA, Milwaukee's Pride Fest, Paducah's Lower Town Arts & Music Festival, Charlevoix's Odmark Pavilion, NYC's Cakeshop, Kalamazoos' Bell's Eccentric Cafe, Peoria's Contemporary Arts Center, Little Rock’s Stickyz, New Orleans’ Melange and AllWays Lounge, Chicago’s Quenchers Saloon, and Cincinnati’s MOTR Pub.
