The Dirt Surfers began their journey into surf-rock history when guitarist and songwriter Doug Cornell (AKA "The Dirt Kahuna") released the instrumental song "Trailer Park Kids Smashed My Mailbox" in the late 1990's. Cornell went on to release new songs in the "new" MP3 format to MP3.com, and eventually received over 300,000 song downloads.
