Formerly known as Earle Brown, the garage soul band The Dead Phonetics comes from San Marcos Texas, where the members, (Mike McGuinness, Chris Balcom, Evan Styles, and Dan Irwin) formed it in 2003. The band tested and tried different configurations until in 2008 Jeff Mills joined on the drums, adding a much needed core sound that gives The Dead Phonetics both soulful melodies, as well as beat-driven rock sound.
