“In the mid-1990s, The Badlees had two Top 30 songs and was poised for national success when it got caught in a record company collapse before it could capitalize on its success. Eighteen years and several breakups and reunions later, the band this month released the album that should have followed that success – the double disc "Epiphones and Empty Rooms," which shows not only that early success was warranted, but that the band has grown and diversified since. The Badlees showed the same in an ambitious concert Friday at Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe. It played two sets that combined for just short of two hours and 23 songs that ranged from its signature roots music to Led Zeppelin-esque muscular rock. After all these years, it was The Badlees the world should have seen back in the 1990s.”
