About

<!--StartFragment-->

Sutton Parks started life with music in his soul.  In his home in North Tonawanda, New York, music was an everyday part of his existence.  He started playing his father’s guitar and writing songs at a very early age.  For Sutton, playing was as natural as it was for many kids to take up baseball.  During college he was playing and singing for fraternity parties and then moved on to bars and nightclubs in nearby Buffalo, New York.

“Buffalo had a great music scene in the early 90’s with acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls and Ani DiFranco hailing from that city,” Sutton commented.  “I was exposed to a very diverse music scene,” he continued.

In addition, Sutton’s music was influenced by Bob Seager, John Cougar, Merle Haggard, CCR and Jackson Browne.  But while Playing in Buffalo, Sutton fell in love with the Blues and he added influences like Muddy Waters and BB King to his growing list.  “I fell in love with the soul and feeling of the blues,” Sutton explains.

After being featured on Buddy Shula’s local musician spotlight for WNUC’s country radio, Sutton decided to make a move to Nashville in 1995 and pursue his dream of doing the very thing he loved with a goal of making it a full time career.  He was immediately off to a fast start in Nashville as he played the world renowned Bluebird Café, the Broken Spoke and joined a regional tour with the “Young Writers”.  While still performing and perfecting his craft as a writer, Sutton shifted to the business side of music, working six years for one of the premier Performing Rights Organizations.

A chance meeting with an old friend led Sutton to realize it was time to take back his soul and leave the business side of music for good.  He renewed his commitment to his music and began writing and playing full time.  He currently plays with the popular Lot 18 Band around Nashville and continues to pursue his songwriting and solo career.
