About

Steve Rundell was born in Dallas, Texas, and began playing guitar in 1986 after coming out of ma coma. Steve was 13 years old and began studying electric guitar with local Dallas teachers of Blues, Jazz and Metal guitar styles. Before leaving for college, Steve continued studying the electric guitar for five years, before throwing his pick away shortly after moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to study music, and began cultivating a fingerstyle technique on acoustic guitar. At the ripe old age of twenty-two, Steve has transcended the traditional boundaries between Jazz, Blues, Rock, Metal and New Age guitar instrumentals by developing his own style using the rare two-handed fretting technique. Steve's debut work "Normandy Rain" is the culmination of 9 years worth of studying and cultivating his ability in multiple musical genres. While registered as a Junior of the College of Santa Fe, Steve produced "Normandy Rain" as his junior years project. The (A+) work was so impressive that the director of the music department credited "Normandy Rain" as Steve's Senior Thesis. In 1998 Steve met Lance McCollum, an incredibly versatile acoustic guitar designer/builder who built Steve a rarely ever seen instrument called a Hairsplitter. It was a dream of Steve's on day actually own a HarpGuitar. The instrument was finished at the beginning of 1999 in Northern California, and was taken home to dallas so Steve could begin to create a style of his own on the HarpGuitar. A few summers ago Steve toured Ireland for 2 1/2 weeks playing at the pubs and absorbing the elements of Celtic Music. Steve cites George Lynch (of Dokken), Michael Hedges, Joe Satriani and Godbrother, Patrick Sugg as early influences on his playing. He has played with several famed guitarists, including internationally known fingerstyle recording artists Pierre Bensusan, and James Taylor.
