With one hand in contemporary bluegrass and the other reeling out some traditional tunes, Southern Exposure draws on the past and brings you to the present with a wide array of music ranging from “Uncle Pen” to “City Of New Orleans.” Mix in fiddle and banjo tunes, spice with a little western swing and Cajun music, then sprinkle in a good dose of comedy on stage and you will see why Southern Exposure have cut a trail to concert halls and festivals all over the Rocky Mt. Region.
About
Since 1981, Southern Exposure has played major events such as The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Rocky Grass, and The Black Hills Festival in South Dakota. They have appeared at noteworthy venues around Colorado such as The Arvada Center, The Paramount Theatre, The Boulder Theatre, Gerald Ford Amphitheatre in Vail, The Greeley Stampede, and they are the annual band for The Denver Post Train to Cheyenne Frontier Days. Major events include The National Hockey League all-star week in Denver, The Democratic National Convention, Taste of Colorado, and a performance at The Air Force Academy.
Southern Exposures’ down-home approach has also been a favorite in Park and Rec concerts all over the Front Range. They have appeared with many of their own favorite artists in concert including The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Emmylou Harris, The Charlie Daniels Band, Nanci Griffith, Alabama, and cowboy poet Baxter Black. Southern Exposure has three well-received recorded projects including “Just Like The Big Time- Only Smaller”, “Sawin’ On The Strings”, and “One More Breakdown”. Southern Exposure brings drive and musical sparkle to their performances that is the simple result of having a fun, lively, and upbeat time.
