About
gig Review - Cardigan Arms 03/04/09
There were three bands on the bill for the show at the cardigan arms on april 3rd 2009, but only one mattered. sound of sirens are a strange bunch - they dont as a group look like they should produce the music they do, in fact t hey dont look very much like a band at all. Howevert once the guitars are turned up full, you cant help but be be impressed. In all fairness, the other bands on the bill had no hope of following what was strangely placed the opening act on the night - no offence to the acts in question but they were outclassed and out performed. i didnt get a chance to speak to any of the band members drectly after the event, so i unfortunately cannot give you titles of their tracks, but the set was brilliant, catchy pop like vocals layered over crunching guitars, teeth rattling bass and some sublime work from their supremely skilled drummer. the singer, although seemingly breathless in spots, had the crowd in raptures with his energetic performance. it wasnt all perfect - there were a few bum notes both vocally and musically, and a couple of the tracks seemed a little sloppy and lyrically under developed, but make no mistake, this band could be big. very big.
