“...."Who or what inspired you to take up music? Family definitely inspired me to pursue music. As a child visiting my grandmother in Orlando, she would hum Mahalia Jackson's "How Great Thou Art" while completing housework (laundry, cooking, etc.). One day she told me to sing and after I finished, she cried and announced "You have a gift from God!" My mom says she sang to me while I was in the womb, so I've truly been singing since birth. What was the most unusual or memorable gig you've ever played? Attending Grambling State University, I was a member of the gospel choir. As a community service effort, we gave a concert at a Louisiana prison. During the performance, my slip began, well ... slipping from under my skirt. Maintaining my military bearing and the utmost professionalism, I stepped out of the slip, kicked it under the riser, and kept going as if nothing was wrong. Eventually, I was able to pick it up and place it in my pocket, all while standing in the front row! "”
