The ocean has always been very important to me. In my younger years, fishing took up most of my free time. So much so that becoming a fishing guide seemed like a logical career choice. After completing school (Go Noles!!) and having to make a career choice, I decided to help my dad out in sourcing seafood for his restaurants. At the time, stone crab were in short supply and he needed some more sources. After a few weeks of driving down to the Florida Keys, I found some fisherman and fish houses to source my dad's restaurants with stone crab but found out I could source him with high quality seafood of all kinds, as well. I continued driving to south Florida and back, daily, until Hurricane Wilma came through and put most of my larger suppliers out of business. The choice was then to either give up on the seafood industry or become my own supplier. Soon I started construction on a full line wholesale fish market located near the airport in Orlando. Whole fish and other seafood products are flown or driven in directly to my facility and processed and delivered only after a critical quality inspection. It's been in operation for 7 years now and has more than 50 customers. Being a 5th generation and lifelong Lakelander, when the thought of starting a seafood retail market came along, Lakeland was the logical choice. Also, being raised in a restaurant family created aspirations of adding a culinary side to the typical seafood market model. So, Jimmy Belle's Seafood Market & Grill (named after my two children) was born. A full line, high quality, seafood market that also offers chef inspired cuisine as well as southern seafood fare that's anything but average. Thank you very much for joining us in this new adventure. We hope to see you again soon! Harris Woodsby
