Sideshow Tramps consider themselves to be the stewards of past musical eras, with a specialty in turn of the century Americana and all of it's migrant influences. One might compare the music they create to a days proceedings on Ellis Island where the interviews involve chords instead of words. This group is quite notorious for keeping alive some of the grittier folk traditions including home made instruments, hokum, call and response, finger picking, turning a crowd, medicine shows, and pentecostal spiritual rock-n-roll rave-ups!
Over the past few years, the band has attracted an entourage of misfits and sexy young dancers almost as entertaining as the band itself. During a performance one might get the feeling that the circus has come to town. The bands new CD is titled “Medicine Show” as a nod to their origins. It was recorded and mixed in June of 2006 by engineer Leigh Crain at the legendary Sugarhill Studios. Many Houston musicians (Two Star Symphony, Mike Switzer, Bart Maloney, and others) can be heard on the recording. The album has already gone to the top of local charts, beating out national acts such as White Stripes in local record sales.
