Bubbles FREE All Day Blues Festival
Oil City Shakers are a harp n’ guitar duo opening the live proceedings round 2pm with more swampy tales from the Blaydon Delta.
Up round 4pm is local guitar hero Johnny Whitehill with his new band The Groove-a-Matics showcasing their new album. With the addition of singer/sax player Mick Cantwell to his trio I think this is Johnny’s best lineup yet.
Gypsy Dave Smith is an internationally renowned dobro guitar virtuoso who’ll play and talk from around 6pm. This bloke’s crack is as good as his playing and his playing is world class.
On round 8pm, How Askew is a new Blues band from Newcastle centred around its powerful singer/guitarist, a canny new hand to an old style. Come and see great talent before they move up a level and you have to pay proper money to see them.
Get yourselves up for a grand day of FREE live Blues at one of the region’s oldest music venues. Bubbles Bar is just off Station Road, right in the middle of Ashington. This venue has a large open, high visibility car park next to it and is only 5 minutes walk from the main bus station.
