The Sacramento Valley Spark is hosting a burner style BBQ. Come on out! Eat some food (the grill will be there, so bring yer meat)! Drink some beverages! Enjoy some music, some art, some great company! Learn a few things about Sacramento Valley Spark, find opportunities to volunteer with SVS or at Official Sacramento Decompression (Burn the River!).
Want to host a space, art installation, activity or gifting operation at the BBQ? WE WANT YOU! Please contact volunteer-contact@sacvalleyspark.org
Why is this BBQ happening? Glad you asked! The Sacramento Valley Spark (SVS) is a newly formed (filed this year) 501c non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of burner principles and support of art in the greater Sacramento region. SVS is entirely ran by volunteers, and hosted last year's Decompression - Burn the River. SVS has some big dreams, including eventually hosting a multi-day regional event here near Sacramento, but in order to pursue those dreams, SVS needs enthusiastic participants (i.e. you!) to volunteer, do activities, help make things work, and eventually keep SVS going!
Beyond holding events SVS hopes to help provide the organizational support for artistic efforts (like this year's Sacramento CORE project), as well as help others plan their events, acting as a legitimate liazon for interacting with fire, police, and SVS is hoping to provide this organizational toolset as a resource to people throughout the greater Sacramento 'burner' (and anything similar) community.
This BBQ is intended to be our 'coming out' party of sorts, we're throwing it to get the word out that this organization exists, how it can benefit the community, tell people how it works, how to get involved, how we need people to someday take it over (cuz I'll tell you what, I'm not doing this forever!).
We're hoping to start recruiting volunteers for Decompression (Burn The River) which we're holding this upcoming October.
