This month, The Mine welcomes one of the most important and influential contemporary Scottish guitarists: Rod Jones. As Idlewild axeman, he is responsible for some of the biggest selling songs of the last 15 years, with such hits as 'Love Steals Us From Loneliness', 'American English' and 'You Held The World In Your Arms', as well as the seminal album '100 Broken Windows'.
Having been holed up at Bainbridge Vaults for the last few months, his new group, The Birthday Suit, are ready to take to the stage and offer the sound described by the Edinburgh Evening News as "a melting pot of all that was good about mid-90's indie". After the Americana/Folk hues of 2010's 'A Sentimental Education', Rod has gone back to his roots as a gritty indie guitar hero, and the results are well worth checking out live.
