Please join us to celebrate this momentous occasion... We have put together a special bill with some of our favorite acts in Boston: DJ sets by Commodore Vic & Damian Gregory
Brian Carpenter + The Confessions http://briancarpenterandtheconfessions.tumblr.com/ Carpenter is a songwriter and composer based in Boston. He is also the trumpeter, arranger, and founder of NYC's Ghost Train Orchestra and the founder of Boston-based band Beat Circus, for which he composed a "Weird American Gothic" trilogy of original music. In 2010, the Beat Circus album "Boy From Black Mountain" won the Independent Music Award for Best Alt/Country Album. He has been featured on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross and has collaborated with Larkin Grimm, Marc Ribot, Roswell Rudd, and Michael Gira. His latest band is Brian Carpenter & The Confessions, debuted in 2011, with drummer Gavin McCarthy (Karate), guitarist Andrew Stern (Beat Circus), bassist Jef Charland, singer Noell Dorsey (Beautiful Weekend, Guillermo Sexo), and Jen Kenneally.
"Brian Carpenter is a multi-faceted artist, musician, composer, arranger, film director, radio producer and more. In short, he's a guy who follows his muse." - Downbeat
Cooling Towers
http://www.coolingtowers.us/
Formed in the spring of ‘10 by guitarist Ronan Fahy and singer
Commodore Vic, Cooling Towers has since garnered a healthy dose of
praise and attention for their vibrant studio recordings and
boisterous live shows. With Judy Margo on electric piano, Eric Donohue
on bass, and Pete Gamache on drums, the band has become the unique sum
of its parts; veterans from disparate corners of a diverse musical
scene. Armed with a slew of guitar hooks and a little black book full
of past regrets, their songs are decidedly romantic, and vital. Their
sound is an amalgamation of indie rock, anthemic British pop and the
angular aggression of 80's post punk. As word-of-mouth has spread,
Cooling Towers have gone from local unknowns to well-received
headliners within a matter of months. The band are currently finishing
up a collection of tracks with producer Darron Burke of Make Shift
Studio, set to be released this spring."
"Cooling Towers grab you right from the get-go on 'Charlotte' with feedback drenched guitars and an undeniable bass line. It’s not long before the drums snap into place and the band launches into a sizzling piece of post punk bliss. It’s aggressive, melodic and it grooves. So good." - daykamp music, 2012
