He is director of Small World Consulting, an associate company of Lancaster University. He developed the consumption based carbon metrics for Greater Manchester, West Sussex and the Lake District National Park and has mapped out the carbon in the supply chains of organisations including Booths Supermarkets, Taylor Wimpey, Lancaster University and more small businesses than he can count. Small World's carbon analysis is being used in personal and household calculators by the Eden Project, The Guardian, and the 10:10 campaign. Mike's book, How Bad Are Bananas? The Carbon Footprint of Everything, headed the Financial Times list of best science and environment books for 2010. Bill Bryson wrote "I can't remember the last time I read a book that was more fascinating, useful and enjoyable all at the same time."Gaynor ColeyManaging DirectorEden ProjectGaynor Coley joined the Eden Project in 1997 after five years as Director of Finance at the University of Plymouth, one of the most successful new universities in the UK. Gay's first job was to make Eden financially secure and she led the delivery of the groundbreaking public and private sector funding programme for the £140 million Project. Under Gay's commercial leadership as Managing Director, Eden has attracted over 13 million visitors and has been a major economic engine, adding over £1 billion to the local economy.Gay has a passion for education as a tool of transformation and after growing up in South Wales, studied Economics at London University. Gay went into the City to understand how to unlock resources and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross. She moved to the West Country in 1987 and was voted Best Chartered Accountant in the 2005 ICAEW Regional Awards. In 2009, Gay received the CBI Real Business First Women Award in Tourism and Leisure. She is currently leading the strategy to extend Eden's influential environmental brand and programmes across the world.Dr. Fernando Correia Research FellowUniversity of Exeter Business SchoolFernando has been working for the past two years on the Clear About Carbon project developing research on Leadership and Procurement Management Skills for Climate Change. Working with a multi-disciplinary team from the School's Centre for Leadership Studies and Operations Management Group - including Prof. Richard Lamming, Prof. Annie Pye, Prof. Mickey Howard and Dr. Beverley Hawkins - Fernando has been developing and delivering a low-carbon procurement leadership development programme for senior managers in Cornish organisations. Fernando has a professional and academic background in sustainability, rural development and ecology. Ross HarlingFounder & Managing DirectorNaturepaintRoss is an Economist by training and a leader in innovation and improvement by vocation. Multi-award winning Naturepaint (based in Hayle) was developed by Ross as a sustainable alternative to carbon based paints that are a known cause of damage to the climate, environment and human health. Since founding Naturepaint in 2006, the company has gone on to establish itself with independent and multiple stockists and has won numerous environmental awards, including The Observer Big Idea Award.After an international career in IT and Telecommunications, Ross founded Atticus in 1996 providing business process and organizational change for international corporations and government departments. Ross has also been a NATO lecturer in European business management for countries of the former Soviet bloc.Paul HolmesSustainable Business Development ManagerEden ProjectPaul has been with Eden for nearly 6 years and looks after relationships with local suppliers, working to tackle resource efficiency and sustainability issues as well as seeking opportunities to develop new products and secure new routes to market. For the past couple of years Paul has been assigned to the award winning, Clear About Carbon project focusing on carbon literacy skills for small businesses, preparing them for the transition to a low carbon economy. Borrowed from Sir Nicholas Stern's 2006 ground-breaking review on the economic impacts of climate change, Paul's low carbon mantra is "It's no longer Business as Usual".....Peter MarshHead of Property ServicesCornwall CouncilPeter was appointed Head of Property for Cornwall Council in June 2009. He is a general practice chartered surveyor and has been head of service in two greater Manchester councils before relocating to Cornwall. Peter is committed to help transform the Councils significant estate and in doing so is keen to ensure that sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do. This ranges from the implementation of changing traditional working practices to intensify the use of space to the implementation of specific renewable and low carbon projects. Shaun McCarthyShaun is a leading advocate of sustainable business. After being inspired by WWF's One Planet Leader's programme he took on the challenge of developing a methodology to carbon footprint BT's products and services.
