From “Best tap dancer alive today” to “Best tap dancer of all time”, Glover is truly the King of Tap. With gravity-defying rhythm and inventive sounds, “A Classical Encounter with Savion Glover” seems to achieve the impossible: a continuous flow of percussive taps with the subtlest of moves. Also known for being one of the greatest improvisational tap dancers, this evening of sound to dance and dance to sound invites the educated ear on a ride through dance like only Mr. Glover can conduct. In his most pared down, minimalistic concert to date, “A Classical Encounter with Savion Glover” will allow sounds to sweep through audiences like thundering, hypnotic hail while offering marvelous insight into the relationship between music and dance in a way that no contemporary dance performance could.
