It all began back in 1985....
Originally set up to support and raise awareness for York Peace Centre based at the Friends Meeting House.
York Peace Festival started as a small gathering with willing volunteers and over the years has blossomed into a huge event, attracting people from all over and creating a real community buzz for York.
YPF is a hub of activity and has many different aspects. Everone who gets involved does it for free in order to provide a free festival for all. That's real community spirit for you!
This year's festival will feature two live music stages, workshops, dance performances, live art jamming, exhibitions, a Latin American carnival, street theatre, food & drink, market stalls, the Millers Yard Collective arts & wellbeing area, and a children's play and entertainment area.
With over 200 artists, singers, bands, dancers and performers involved, numerous local community groups and of course the people of York, all contributing, this is guaranteed to be the greatest day for York in 2010!!
And we promise the sun will shine! ;)
As ever, YPF is run by a team of volunteers all giving their time and skills to help create this unique day for the benefit of the community. So, if you would like to be involved, either in the organisation, stewarding, performing, or having a stall then please email us your request at info@yorkpeacefestival.org.uk
