An exciting new sound of Asian folk music mixed with modern Jazz, Jeff Fairbanks' Project Hansori performs all original music of its leader, Jeff Fairbanks. Traditional Asian instruments like the gong and zither are featured alongside the 17-piece big band. An in-demand composer and performer, and a recognized talent, Fairbanks has won national awards and recognition from ASCAP, BMI, IAJE, and numerous competitive grants from the American Music Center and the Queens Council on the Arts. Project Hansori's debut recording "Mulberry Street" is slated for release June 2011. Featuring a cast of 22 including singular guest bari saxophonist Fred Ho, this album of Fairbanks' original compositions and arrangements fuses East and West in an imaginative new setting.
