Guest of honor Dennis Hopper will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award before a special screening of Easy Rider on August 8 at The KiMo Theatre. Immediately following the classic film, the Albuquerque Film Festival Award celebration will begin at The Historic El Rey Theater with Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad" set to M.C. the night. Festival goers will be entertained at by Los Angeles based band The Siamese Souls followed by Hundred Year Flood, plus a very special guest opening. A powerhouse quartet, Hundred Year Flood splits the seams of Rock n Roll with their high octane vocals, powerful, driving rhythm and bleeding heart melodies. They deliver their original tunes with gut-wrenching honesty and energetic passion. Tickets will be $20 for all non-festival pass holders, and free to festival pass holders. Tickets can be purchased at The El Rey on the night of the event or the Albuquerque Film Festival office located at 102 Gold Ave SW.
"We have designed the Albuquerque Film Festival to take advantage of the diverse assets of Albuquerque and its people. The festival will offer art, music, local and national films and, of course, great parties all in Albuquerque’s vibrant downtown. Our vision, ultimately, is that the Albuquerque Film Festival will become a springboard to celebrate and launch the tremendous talent of Albuquerque natives," said Film for Change and Albuquerque Film Festival founder Rich Henrich. "Especially as the film industry in Albuquerque blossoms, this festival will also serve as a forum for the people of Albuquerque to interact with the creative talent behind both the local and national arts." The Film Festival is a project of Film for Change, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit dedicated to the promotion, presentation and production of socially relevant media. The Albuquerque Film Festival is a community organization dedicated to recognizing writers, filmmakers, musicians and artists from across the globe, whose visions cross borders and cultural lines.
