About
"Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven" -Matthew 5:16
Shine has a single purpose: to glorify God through music. That's exactly what this six-piece contemporary Christian pop/folk band has done since forming almost out of necessity two years ago.
The Band -vocalist Jenn, guitarist Bob, guitarist Ed, pianist Anja, and Drummer Kevin -is dedicated to its music ministry, playing a mix of harmony-rich original acoustic pop songs, along with music by popular Christian performers such as Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Selah, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Rebecca St. James and others. With tight harmonies, ringing acoustic guitars and intriguing musical arrangements, Shine offers a heartfelt, passionate sound, all to lift up Jesus Christ as King.
"We are so blessed to be able to use music, our music, to reach out and lead praise for the Lord," said Jenn. "We do this for His glory.
Shine has touched hundreds of people using secular and Christian music to lead them in worship. The group has used music by The Beatles (altering the lyrics slightly to give the songs a Christian feel) in special worship services. In December 2006 and 2007, Shine took part in a unique service called "U2Charist," performing music by U2 to raise money for their charity the One Campaign, which fights to end world hunger.
Shine has plans to branch out in 2008, taking their music ministry on the road. The band recorded their Debut EP in 2007 and expects to be playing at Capital Region churches and coffee houses over 2008.Shine feels called to use their gifts to share God's word with others, glorifying the Lord through music.
