In 2006, disaster struck Shelly's life. Her eldest daughter, and friend, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Understandably, Shelly stepped away from her music; supporting her through her treatments. The cancer went into remission the summer of 2007, giving her daughter the opportunity to complete her first year of university.
During that time, Shelly fulfilled her life-long dream - recording her CD. After the CD was complete in 2008, Shelly's daughter’s cancer relapsed and Shelly dedicated herself to the care of her daughter until her passing in October 2008. Devastated by her loss, Shelly plummeted into a deep depression. One year later, although still grieving the loss of her daughter, Shelly is determined to put her gifts to use and honor her daughter’s memory with the return to her music.
"I’m Not Lookin’ Back" is the title track of Shelly’s album. And she is ready to do just that. Having written all ten tracks, complimented by her true country voice, Shelly is able to convey personal stories that her fans can relate to. From a true country/classic sound to the country/rock sound heard today, Shelly appeals to listeners of all ages. “It’s all about music. Making a connection with my fans. If I accomplish that, I'll have done what I have set out to do as an artist”.
Through web promotion, Shelly has built a strong, and growing, fan base through Reverbnation, MySpace, and Facebook, and continues to be in the top 5 of the Reverbnation charts for
Shelly is ready to continue her musical journey, to share her creativity with the world. Out of her grief, and experience these past few years, comes new songs ready to be written. And she looks forward to performing them for her fans.
Shelly is presently re-uniting her band and rehearsing for performances scheduled for the upcoming Spring. She is anxious to hit the stage. Performing live shows and fulfilling her dream.
