East Tennessee’s own Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle are successful songwriters who spread their influence and support throughout our community. A longtime fiddle instructor, Sarah leads a weekly open jam at Boyd’s Jig and Reel in the Old City and is a member of the Naughty Knots all-woman country band. Together the couple hosts the Sunday morning gospel show “In the Spirit” on i105 WFIV FM. They one first place in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest with their song “When I Come Home,” and their most recent duo album, 2004’s "The Barb Hollow Sessions," debuted at No. 6 on the Roots Music Report National Bluegrass Airplay Charts. The single, "Bury Me In The Red Clay" peaked at No. 12 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Chart. Their songs have been recorded by John Starling, April Verch, Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines, Charlie Sizemore, Rickie Simpkins, Blue Moon Rising, Carrie Hassler, and many others. Dale Ann Bradley recorded Sarah’s song, “Come Home Good Boy,” which recently reached No. 3 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Chart. http://www.jeffandsarahonline.com/ Darrell Webb is a Grammy-nominated session musician as well as an IBMA and SPBGMA award winner. His 20-year career includes performing with legendary banjo pioneer J.D. Crowe and the Lonesome River Band and recording with Dolly Parton, Bobby Hicks, Marty Rabon and Rhonda Vincent. Darrell Webb Band was nominated for the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association's Emerging Artist of the Year. Their second album on Rural Rhythm Records, Breaking Down the Barriers is available now. Webb and Barbra co-wrote the disc’s first single, “She’s Out of Here,” which was recently released as a single to radio stations. She has published two poetry chapbooks, Recollecting the Snow and Itinerant. She recently won the 2012 STILL literary contest for her poem “What the Dead Want.”
