Battle of the Bands featuring "Rubber Crutch"
“Stripped-down, no-holds-barred rock n' roll. That's what Rubber Crutch is all about. Rubber Crutch comprises Tom Kalvesmaki, of Charleroi, on guitar/ vocals; Jim Younkin, of Elizabeth, guitar; Anthony Pandolph, of Pleasant Hills, on bass guitar; and T.J. Feronti, of Kane, Pa., drums and percussion. The band was formed in early 2009, by Younkin, Pandolph and Kalvesmaki. The musicians met through mutual friends. "I knew that day by leaving my drums there when I left I'd be coming back," Feronti said. While the band will perform crowd favorite songs at shows, the band stresses they are not a "cover band." Kalvesmaki is the creative force behind the band and writes the band's songs. But, his bandmates add their own ideas. "With these guys I can write sort of what I want them to do and they take it from there," Kalvesmaki said. "Whenever Anthony hears it, he figures out what he needs to do to make it a real bass line."”
