“...Lynyrd Skynyrd is having sex with the Black Crows and this is the lovechild.”
“Welcome to 'The Hen House'”
“I want a full criminal investigation immediately. There is no way in the world that a band like Rooster should be unsigned with the package thev've got and I wanna know who's been trying to keep these boys down. With one of the best live shows the Island has ever produced, a strong catalogue of gritty blues rockers and 5 players with one heartbeat and vision, Rooster should be getting a slice of the pie comparable to the Black Crows. This is a national act hidden in the confines of Long Island.”
“When Rooster playes live its hard to take your eyes off singer Billy Kohouts tight leather pants and wildly feathered hat. The guys in Rooster make a spectacle because they're not afarid to act like they've become rock stars. All that posing has driven many local musicos to dismiss Rooster. Despite the antics, one of the Islands flashiest bands has been getting better all the time. Rooster takes on southern boogie, Delta blues and R&B lands it on the same stylistic turf as The Black Crows, early Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones, circa "Exile on Main Street." That means the band is often trafficking in a lot of worn-out rock cliches, but the fire behind Roosters playing can't be denied. Songs like "Sweet Elaine," "Nobody Loves You" and "Amanda could easily become mainstream radio fodder. When a band shakes its tailfeathers like Rooster, it always runs the risk of ridicule. But behind all the strutting, the strength of the music gives Rooster something to crow about.”
"High quality Rock N'Roll ala Aerosmith, Stewart and classic Southern rock. Good songs with instant hooks that are loads of fun. Great vox, strong rhythm section. I particularly like the piano and bluesy guitars.
THE MUSIC PAPER
“It's enough to make people start asking questions like, "What label are you singed with? and where can I get the CD?" Leading to a truly unsolved mystry and Robert Stacks asking, "How can such a talented band be overlooked like this?"”
THE ISLAND EAR
"Rooster has created a unique hybred of hard hitting rock that one of our critics called "Guns Skynard." Their original songs have plenty of balls and attititude to spare and the 6 piece band draws large crowds to their semi-regular showcases."
