“Controversy over improvements to a trunk road near Oswestry has had an unexpected spin-off for village musician Rob Cook Williams. He wrote his song Highw(A)y 483 five years ago after he bought the Golden Lion Hotel in the area. The blues song is about the A483, the main road which runs through the village of Llandysilio, where Rob owns the Hotel, and regularly performs his songs.
Mr Cook Williams believes the renewed interest is probably down to concern in the local area about road safety, "although the song itself is not a protest song, says Rob. "It is more tongue-in-cheek; a song celebrating the local area.
"There have been many songs written about highways and by-ways over the years, but not too many about the local area!
"We have a regular blues night here at the Golden Lion every Tuesday and it often gets performed then, and I've even had people covering it."
The song is requested frequently in the Golden Lion and customers can listen on Reverbnation in the lounge area.”
