Bio
After an enviable career in the corporate world, in 2008 Rick Parnell succumbed to his true passion - music. He impressed musician/producer and new found friend Graham Ronne who offered to produce a few demos for him. The success of those demos and the artistic communication that followed is helping a broader audience discover Rick’s music.
About
Rick Parnell’s music sprouts from the very roots of the Folk-Rock tradition and then subtly suggests new directions. Introspective and captivating, listeners most often describe Rick Parnell as a combination Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash, with suggestions of John Cougar, Leonard Cohen, George Harrison, & John Lennon. All have deeply influenced Rick’s vocal and song writing style.
In the summer of 2009, Rick released an initial EP of songs rich with nuance and possibility that seem destined to be replayed and covered by artists across many musical genres.
Accomplished musician and producer Graham Ronne -- whose claims to fame include having toured with the beloved Johnnie Johnson (for whom Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Goode was titled) -- is the engineer, producer and lead guitarist. Graham rounds out Rick’s rhythm guitar and vocals with masterful lead and steel guitar to create an overall sound whose richness defies the limited instrumentation.
