WorldService Project & RedivideR Match&Fuse no. 3 Having collaborated with bands from Norway and Germany as part of their Match&Fuse exchanges, WSP return once again to the Vortex with Irish band RedivideR. WSP continue to turn heads on the UK jazz scene, recently described as "tight, deftly structured and grittily grooving music" (John Fordham, The Guardian). WSP are Dave Morecroft (keys), Tim Ower (sax), Raph Clarkson (trombone), Conor Chaplin (bass) and Neil Blandford (drums). Led by drummer Matt Jacobson, RedivideR's accolades include opening for Chris Potter's Underground at the Galway Jazz Festival 2010, and also featuring at Europe's prestigious Twelve Points Festival. With influences including artists such as Charles Mingus, Steve Coleman, Deerhoof and Phil Ivey, the formula for putting all this together in one palindromical setting is downtown grooves with catchy melodies and collective improvs featuring Nick Roth (sax), Colm O'Hara (trombone) and Derek Whyte (bass).
make 2013 a break out year!
