Raúl Lara y sus Soneros plays the traditional Cuban son music in a modern way with mainly contemporary songs composed by the vocalist, percussionist and band leader Raúl.
Cuban born Raúl played with many bands during his time in Cuba until he left for Sweden in 1990. He has ever since had Goteborg as his base but it is easy to tell that Havana will always be the source and inspiration of his music.
During the nineties he founded and toured with Laroye and Son Entero in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia and played at the most well known clubs and festivals. 2009 he started his project of uniting well known Cuban musicians based in Europe together some of Swedens most recognized musicians “Raúl Lara y sus Soneros”. The bands consists of singer/s, two trumpets, a tres-cubano, piano, bass and a traditonal cuban rythm section with for exampel congas, bongos, timbales, claves and güiro.
