“HE'S A well-known sight on the streets of Truro, St Austell and other Cornish towns and now Brett Damarell has channelled his Woody Guthrie-busking persona into an album of ragged folk-blues. Folk Lore is the sound of Dylan if he was surrounded by the granite and sea of Cornwall rather than Greenwich Village coffee shops. Brett's impassioned acoustic blues is best heard on the likes of Keep Yours With Mine, After The Flood, It's Not My Habit and Faithful To The Street, a song which could be his personal anthem – this is folk music with an edge. He is ably backed by Keith Marshall on percussion, Steve Price on fiddle and Andy Card on banjo. A special mention should go to multi-instrumentalist Phil Wisdom, whose fiddle, mandolin and flute gives the album texture and a romanticism at odds with Brett's feisty delivery. Brett's other CDs (Honestly / Storyteller / Heroes And Vagabonds) can be bought from the man otherwise known as Ramblin' Minor on his travels.”

“Brett Damarell brought his Ramblin` Minor showcase to the Sunday afternoon punters at St.Austell`s British Legion Club last week to perform some cracking acoustic tunes, original and cover versions of unlikely songs mingled together in his own celtic-stylie. The Irish traditional tin whistle tunes came from Mick `de whistle` Cheyne and the whole set was peppered with witty asides as Brett tried to create a joyful celebration of all things folky.”
“There will also be a selection of free arts and crafts events, a carnival queen photo exhibition and a concert by guitarist Brett Damarell.”
