Bio
Caroline and Colin Stanley met while performing in Big Bag of Sticks,a six piece folk, rock, reggae outfit which performed all over Ireland and Europe. They released numerous c.ds and performed at many festivals with acts such as Altan and The Pogues at Montreux Jazz Festival in 1997.
The band decided to call it a day in the late 90s, Colin and Caroline took a rest from the touring circuit. Recently, Colin and Caroline began to write and record their own material and discovered interest for the music they were producing.
Deciding to give themselves the name Queen Elvis, taken from a song by English songwriter Robyn Hitchcock. This band have something unique to offer,an experience you will never forget.
About
Queen Elvis is a two-piece group consisting of songwriter/ guitarist/vocalist Colin Stanley and songwriter/vocalist Caroline Stanley based in Galway. Their music can be described as acoustic soul folk. Over the last couple of years they have been writing and recording material as Queen Elvis and now feel it is time to get out on the road to showcase their music. They play as a two-piece or full band with a sax/mandolin player(Geoff Ward), bass player(Walter Feitcher) and drummer(Tom Cody)
In 2007 they played support for Roesy in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. This was a very successful outing for the duo who managed to impress many of the listeners. They have also supported Emmet Scanlan and What The Good Thought in Galway in 2007.
In 2008 they performed at many showcase gigs wherever possible and have begun to build up a loyal following. They were also invited to play The Village Hall at The Electric Picnic and brought the full band out for its first outing. They played The Triban Tent the same weekend. Both gigs went well for the band at the Picnic and gave them great encouragement for the future of Queen Elvis.
2009 began with a showcase at Dublin Underground session in Eamon Dorans on Jan 7th where they received a fine review for their live performance from Trevor Halpin of Musicreviewunsigned.com
“This act was far from rock more of the folk melodic kind with a lead singer that had a voice of pure emotion and could harmonise with each note to perfection.”
Feb 28th saw them return to The Cobblestones in Dublin where they last played as support to Roesy. This time headlining as a 5 piece band with Geoff, Tom and Walter. Great gig
