“Ho avuto modo di sentire la band sia su disco che in fase live quindi - parlo per me - posso in parte perdonare la qualità audio dell'album in questione.
Ebbene sì, per quanto interessanti siano le idee proposte all'interno del platter il missaggio/mastering di questo CD rende difficile assimilarne il contenuto. Veniamo ora al disco; etichettarlo come thrash/death potrebbe risultare riduttivo in quanto alcuni episodi possono meglio accostarsi a ciò che oggi viene definito da molti come nu-metal (prendiamo il riff principale di "Kosmonaut") mentre altri richiamano influenze più black o brutal ("Wrath And Sorrow" e la titletrack "Reaching The End") fino a
sfociare in accenni hardcore ("Lying To Yourself").Non mancano inoltre brevi inserti di elettronica synth e qualche clean guitar ... insomma un cocktail che poteva risultare davvero azzeccato se solo la produzione audio fosse stata più adeguata, ad ogni modo lo consiglio ad amanti del sound metal anni '80 rivisato con nuove idee.”

"Le idee di fondo che si trovano all’interno di “Reaching The End” non sono per niente male e, anche se riprendono spesso e volentieri da realtà ben più note, riescono a barcamenarsi facilmente tra pezzi più tendenti al Thrash e altri più Thrash-Core con scelte di ritmi e groove di chiara matrice americana.
Per quanto riguarda l’animo Death Metal, i Pulvis Et Umbra, scelgono evidentemente lo stampo più moderno fermo restando che qualche sfuriata vecchio stile viene ogni tanto riproposta seppur con qualche piccola imprecisione facilmente soprassedibile. La produzione audio non rende giustizia a nessun brano contenuto nel platter ed uccide costantemente le chitarre che si trovano a dover letteralmente soffocare per dei bassi troppo accentuati, sonorità eccessivamente secca, voci ma soprattutto cori piatti (“Portrait Of Myself”). ciò non toglie che con una produzione audio migliore le cose sarebbero state ben diverse."

"Debut album dalle tinte fosche e con un velo di pazzia per i lombardi Pulvis et Umbra. Reaching the End si propone come un disco dalle influenze thrash senza disdegnare punte di hardcore che rendono più marcia, ma soprattutto più efficace, l’intera opera. Punto di forza del quartetto la funambolica voce che passa con facilità da growl a scream rendendo più oscura l’intera composizione. I riff delle chitarre non disdegnano alcune punte melodiche con l’effetto di spezzare i brani più potenti e riprenderli con ancora più vigore, dando un singolare dinamismo al tutto. La sezione ritmica completa questo lavoro fornendo la giusta velocità a un progetto che ben si inserisce nel genere sopracitato: il vorticoso ed inarrestabile incedere della batteria rinforza il laconico grido di rabbiosa insofferenza che traspare dai testi. Nonostante l’opera sia concepita in maniera tale da convincere la produzione ne rende difficile l’ascolto, che altrimenti sarebbe da ascoltare ‘tutto

"I Pulvis Et Umbra eccedono nel cercare un suono sporco, ottenendo un risultato che sarebbe più adatto a un prodotto grindcore: purtroppo quando i ritmi si alzano e la batteria pesta duro le chitarre risultano affossate, mentre paradossalmente il basso tende ad emergere. Difficile, dunque, che ciò non si ripercuota sulle sorti dell'album.
Il disco di per sé non sarebbe male. 'Lying To Yourself' soffre un po' in partenza poi si riprende con qualche fase di stop&go, 'Kosmonaut' non è particolarmente accelerata e si mette in luce con un riffing interessante ed avvincente, 'The Price Of Trust' ci mostra una voce che sa essere feroce e tagliente al punto giusto giocando su varie impostazioni. Due tracce, nella fattispecie 'Wrath And Sorrow' e 'Reaching The End' godono di un suono migliore rispetto alle altre. A conti fatti i Pulvis Et Umbra si troncano le gambe da soli, facendo suonare 'Reaching The End' come una release anni '80. Il lato positivo è che basta davvero poco per migliorar
