About

- From Rochester, NY - Christopher "Arpmandude" Arp recorded some 8 track demos of the first 4 Psyopus songs - at the time called Stranglefuck - with a drum machine and was handing them out looking for musicians to work with and start the project. Went through a slew of local and regional musicians, including Tim Yueng, until Arp found the combination that was going to work. This was Greg Herman on drums, Fred Decoste on bass, and Adam Frappolli as vocalist.

- Psyopus recorded our "3003" demo containing 2 songs. Psyopus took one day in Doug White's Watchmen Studios in Lockport, NY. Blackmarket Activities (Guy Kozowyk from the The Red Chord's label) heard it on the once popular MP3.com and contacted us about signing us. We gladly responded with a yes. November that year we went in to Watchmen studios again, this time for a week and recorded our first full length album "Ideas of Reference".

- "Ideas of Reference" was released in Febuary of 2004. Psyopus started touring, touring, touring. Psyopus got noticed by Metal Blade, who was already in discussion of teaming up with BMA, and ended up signing with Metal Blade Records Proper in October of 2004.

- Psyopus toured and toured and toured. Greg Herman was replace be Pittsbugh, PA's Lee Fisher (formaly of Commit Suicide). Psyopus toured and toured.

- The perment drummer position was then taken my eastern Mass' Jon Cole. He moved to Rochester and Psyopus started working on the material for our next album, our first release on Metal Blade Records to be entitled "Our Puzszling Encounters Considered". Psyopus rehearsed like lunatics, Jon and Arp particularly, like maniacs for 4 to 12 hours spans, and sometimes more, up in our rehearsal space in Rochester, NY. In June-July Psyopus went into Watchmen Studio again, this time for a month and started recording the album.

- OPEC considered was released Feb 2007 on Metal Blade. Psyopus toured and toured and toured and stressed and stressed and stressed. We went through some intensive line up changes. Harrison Christie from Fredericksburg, VA (of the band The Jefferson Plane Crash) replaced Adam as vocalist. Jason Bauers of Buffalo, NY became drummer and Mike Horn of the Washington, DC area became bassist. Psyopus toured and toured.
