I was born in Bournemouth, England and grew up in Southend-on-Sea. I got my first drum kit in 1968 and turned pro at the age of 19 in 1970. I played all over Europe at U.S.O. clubs for the troops on R&R from the Vietnam War.In 1971 I joined a band called Silverhead. We toured the world from 1972-74, including the US and Japan.
