Bio

At only 21 Paul Steel has had an impressive start to his career. His debut album "April & I" was released to critical fanfare last spring with The London Paper describing it as "the best album since Brian Wilson’s Smile" and CD Times literally drooling... "He is, ostensibly, a singer-songwriter, in the same way that Brunel was a builder or Michaelangelo was a painter."

An ill fated record deal with megalith Polydor followed swiftly which saw Paul record his second album "Moon Rock" in his bedroom, before shipping out to LA to tidy things up with Tony Hoffer (Kooks / Beck / Supergrass).

Live dates including Fuji Rock and V followed last summer along with supports with Sean Lennon, The Bee's, Electric Soft Parade, Amy Winehouse, Ed Harcourt, and Cornelius.

When Paul broke his foot on stage and was incapacitated for two months, his career stalled enough for Polydor to get cold feet and release him from his contract. Paul said of his experience... "I was made to walk the Polydor plank! Better than going down with the ship I suppose."

With his newfound freedom and integrity intact, Paul is now involved in a surprising number of great projects. An animated movie for "April & I" is in production with Passion Pictures; an album project with Nick Littlemore from PNAU is well under way, and he is even finding time to play bass in Stars and Sons. With a huge body of new songs awaiting his attention and both albums looking good for international licensing deals, things are looking pretty good for Paul.

This kid is really sweet, and has some interesting chord changes and melodies. His songs are very ambitious, and their best moments sound a bit like Queen meeting the Beach Boys in the bedroom of a 15 year old boy wearing batman pyjamas. Certainly a talent. - Sean Ono Lennon

In A Coma just @$%^&* freaked me out!! Holy @$%^&* bananas!! The ending killed me. Dude, I raise the goblet of pop high in the air and toast thee venerable knight that conquers melody and harmony like a dragon slayer. Here here. WTF?? - Nelson Bragg, artist and Brian Wilson band member.

Paul Steel produces the sweetest, richest, most glorious pop music of the 21st century. A shining star in the musical firmament. - Ralph Brown, actor and musician.
