Having written, played and recorded with numerous bands and artists over the years, FOCAL POINT is Paul Cusick's debut album and is due for release in 2009.

Paul says "Focal Point provides me with the opportunity to indulge in my love for experimental / progressive rock. I am a big fan of bands such as Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Rush, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Train, Queen, Coldplay, Radiohead, Keane and Dream Theatre. The list is pretty endless. I hope fans of such bands will appreciate my songs."

The histories of the following uploaded songs give some insight into Paul's motivation:

HOLD ON

"I wrote this song after the Indian Ocean Tsunami killed over 200,000 people. It became apparent that as a species we are quite small and powerless when compared to the might of a great natural disaster. Every one of those that died had plans and dreams for their tomorrow. Tomorrow never came. Make the most of today and live life to the full."

SCARED TO DREAM

" This song was inspired by my day dreaming of going traveling. I spent a lot of my youth bumming around Europe, working in the USA and Israel. I sometimes find the responsibilities of adult life (and being a parent) can be oppressive. Sometimes I get cabin fever and get a little stir crazy. It's during these times that I sometimes feel like simply buggering off. However the reality of doing such a thing would have dire consequences on my domestic and professional life."

HELLO

"A very personal song for me. I wrote this for my Dad who died a couple of years ago. He spent the vast majority of his last couple of years in and out of hospital with cancer with its associated treatments. He did get chance to hear this before he died. I miss him."
