About
PAOLA PRESTINI is the composer, director and founder of the award-winning interdisciplinary collective, VisionIntoArt (VIA). VIA has performed in theaters, museums, and clubs worldwide.
Recent events include a work for the Kronos Quartet Awakening 9-11 program which premiered at Herbst Theater in San Francisco and has since traveled worldwide; a work for the French Aleph Ensemble commissioned by Contemporary Music Forum; and performances at Royce Hall in LA, Duke University, and in NY at Whitney Live!, BAM Café, Symphony Space, Joe's Pub, and PS 122. She has participated in international performances and festivals such as EtnaFest in Sicily, Italy, BEMUS in Belgrade, Serbia and the famed Diagylev Club and Svetlanov Hall in Moscow, Russia. Her work has been commissioned by Prism Quartet, Haydn Orchestra, the Tucson Symphony, and the Juilliard Orchestra.
Ms Prestini is a curator for the Stone, John Zorn's NYC performance venue, has a CD coming out on the Tzadik label, and an essay coming out on Arcana book series.
Recent prizes include grants from the American Music Center, Individual Artist grant from NYSCA, an LMCC Swing Space award, an ASCAP Award, and a PD Soros fellowship. She received her BM and MM at the Juilliard School.
