Artist description
Pam has been working with children as both an educator and entertainer for many years. Pam's songs for children are positive and unlock the joys of childhood. The rhymes and games she offers are age old favorites that children adore. Her original songs vary from funny and high energy to gentle and soothing. Her tapes have been favorites in the Lower Mainland library system and are used by many teachers and Early Childhood Educators in their education programs. Pam Southwell has performed widely in both England and B.C, Canada. Pam is also a storyteller and is currently working on a CD of stories.
Uplifting, with both high energy and gentle elements.
Pam began singing for children as a teacher. She started writing specifically for children in 1986 and produced her first tape, "Pamarama Sings Songs So" as Pamarama, her singing clown personna. She reformatted this project in England as "The Monster Dance."
Her second project (Growing Up Green) and third, (Five Little Finger Rhymes and Lots of Circle Games) were recorded in England by Les Chappell.
Pam Southwell's fourth project for children was commissioned by the University College of the Fraser Valley in B.C. Canada. They wanted a musical tape for their "Children In The Valley" ECE Conference. This tape featured 10 songs relating to growing up in the Fraser Valley and is called "Children Of The Valley."
Pam Southwell has been performing for children as a storyteller and musical performer for many years, both in Canada and in England. She presents concerts, can be a wandering minstrel and tells her stories in all kinds of settings, from Christmas Festivals of Lights to heritage parks and museums and forest trails for the GVRD.
Pam is currently working on a stories CD featuring her gentle storytelling style.
Pam also performs for adults with her daughter Beth in Two Tall Women

"Thank you very much for the wonderful concert last Saturday.... What a great musical experience and what a treat seeing you sing in person after listening to your CDs.
I loved the way you included the children from the audience, having them play the instruments and sing along with you. They were thrilled! We look forward to the next performance. Thank you again.
