Peter Matuchniak / Press

“For any fan of Steve Hackett, this show was a stunningly performed collection of classics. This being the inaugural performance of The Steppes, it would be fantastic if the band could bring this show to Steve Hackett fans across the world. I am not sure of how many Hackett tribute bands exist, but I can't imagine any of them putting on a better show than this talented line up. For a cover band to not disappoint, their performances need to be fun and of the highest musical quality. No such problem with The Steppes. Hearing this setlist performed so effectively really showcased what a unique and original talent Steve Hackett is. The respect that this gifted group of musicians have for the original material was apparent and their tribute show was a corker.”

“The fact that after all this time, Matuchniak is still exploring new avenues and, what is more, producing his best work to date, is an inspiration to us all.”

"In Destiny Peter Matuchniak blends different styles from Prog, Blues Based Rock, Soft Jazz to some sort of vocal Pop, -- but the music is coherent and good. Which is the only thing that matters."

"....the main instrument is Matuchniak's guitar and it's fluid, innovative and masterful throughout. With little doubt, Destiny is another fine work of playful and entertaining melodic progressive rock from Peter Matuchniak and compadres. Easily recommended."

"...mix a bit of Camel with some Alan Parsons and then for good measure drop in a little Pink Floyd. -- Destiny; to my ears a marked step up from his first outing which offers a lot of intriguing music for melodic prog fans. Well worth checking out. "

"The biggest joy on Destiny are actually the female 'guest' vocalists; Natalie Azerad and Peter's daughter Alyssa. Alyssa Matuchniak is a boon to the band's sound; she sounds like a one-woman gospel choir, vocalizing behind the instrumentation to some great effect. Natalie Azerad's voice is showcased on the song "Spies", an exotic jazzy piece that ranks up with the best tunes the album has to offer. "

“Like 'Uncover Me', Matuchniak has delivered the goods with 'Destiny'. I am digging this more and more with each listen. Highly recommended!”

“Peter goes from acoustic to psychedelic to 'classic' to prog to jazz to whatever he likes all in the one place. But, far from feeling disjointed this is very much a complete piece of work.”

"Uncover Me is a versatile and delightful platter of melodic progressive rock, created by a talented and inventive musician. Easily recommended"

"An engaging and multi-faceted view of a musician. There is plenty to enjoy on this album ... well having in one's musical collection. A fine effort "

“This is a diverse and enjoyable album – the back sleeve sums it up best with its category of progressive/jazz/folk. The opener ‘Falling Ash’ (part one of two of ‘Landscape Burning’) is very Pink Floyd from the Gilmour-esque guitar, the wailing female vocals and the general sound of the song. Whereas the title track with its flute and folky air brings to mind Jethro Tull.”

“What makes this album work, aside from compelling songs, is an impressive supporting cast of players including Peter’s own quintet and five guest artists. Vocalist Natalie Azerad brings a beguiling sauciness, while sax player Conor Johnson and flautist David Gilman give resonance to a wide-ranging instrumental palette. Spock’s Beard’s Jimmy Keegan does the drumming.”

“the more that it is played the more the listener gets from it as there is something here that draws you in, whether it is the calm and warm brass or the soaring Floyd-esque vocals. This is a mature album that fans of good music, whatever the genre, will find indispensible.”

"A fine solo album including different musical styles. Recommended to lovers of progressive rock music in general, but in particular to those who fancy Pink Floyd"

“The 'pièce de résistance', the extremely elaborate and absolutely eclectic Rising Sun that offers everything a Prog fan loves, starting with radical changes that take us from Folk to Jazz just to end in a very complex Prog section. The song goes "in crescendo" from melodic and soft to frenetic and vibrant; a really outstanding musical piece”

"Will have immediate appeal to fans of Steve Hackett or perhaps Camel. It’s that type of record; smooth, melodic, tuneful, with just the right amount of musical spice to keep things interesting"

" Throughout “Uncover Me” Matuchniak’s guitar is confident in a variety of styles. The voices of Ted Zahn and Natalie Azerad and powerful yet never obstructive, and the bass of Rick Meadows is strident and self-assured. Jimmy Keegan, drummer for Spock’s Beard, holds these elements together with percussion that is solid yet volatile when necessary. David Gilman and Conor Jonson on flute and saxophone provide the perfect distraction in an album that is both unified, yet not in any way formulaic. And for that reason, among many, “Uncover Me” deserves repeated listening and careful consideration."

“The lead guitar of Peter Matuchniak is the rock upon which this album is built. It will not only put you in mind of so many past favourite styles but will stay with you, easily demanding second, third, and more listens as you marvel at the elasticity of his notes and its haunting prowess.”

“Peter Matuchniak utilizes the clean guitar of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Yes' Steve Howe to lay down the basis for this progressive pop release.”
