Jon Hart / Press

“Headliners the Jon Hart Band were incredible. The speed and skill with which Jon plays guitar is entirely unexpected. The band fuses Mississippi blues with folk through skill, emotion, and raw musicianship and the result is amazing. If there had been a dance floor, the audience would have surely been on their feet. There was a solid backbone provided by the bassist Ronnie Hatt and percussionist Dave Bacon (brilliantly, their real names – Fact Checking Ed) throughout for Jon to play over; weaving a web of vocal hooks and intricate guitar, he amazes his audience effortlessly. One song, the perfectly-named and incredibly fast Wristburner, was particularly memorable – Jon’s arm becoming a blur for five whole minutes. These guys are brilliant and I highly recommend you look them up.”

“This CD is the debut offering from British singer-songwriter Jon Hart and benefits from his many years of experience as a live musician. The nine tracks run the gamut from laid back, meditative, summery tunes to more energetic toe tappers. The guitar playing is crisp and sparkling, the voice low, mixing sincerity and playfulness in equal measure. Highlights include the Celtic influenced ‘Wristburner’, the funky strut of ‘Thunder Drums’, and the frisky bounce of ‘Lying next to You’. Tantalising warmth suffuses every note of Barefoot bringing to mind images of Whitewashed Beach Cafes, shady palm trees and lazy afternoons on the beach. An early contender for the summers soundtrack, from a artist to watch”

“Jon Hart is over the moon after being named the winner of the annual Bury St Edmunds Songwriting Competition. Jon, who has been writing songs since he learnt to play guitar aged 11, claimed the title at a grand final at Bury's Unitarian meeting house last month. And as part of his prize, he found himself performing onstage at the Abbey Gardens as a warm up act for the Bury Festivals world music night with Mbawula.”
